Peer economy is a concept of an economy and the organisation of a non-capitalistic society based on sharing - following the principles of free software. The distribution of goods and resources are done based on principles of sharing.

Christian Siefkes coined the term in his book on this topic for his ideas on how to extend the concept of commons-based peer-production (Yochai Benkler) from information economy "into the physical world".
