While there is consensus that the meetings are kept strictly non-commercial, people collect money in a hat that is passed around (the magic hat) creating a communal fund - they give what they can, everyone decides on his own how much he can give, nobody has to justify himself for how much he gives or if he gives at all; from that they pay their (shared) expenses (mostly food).
