Peer-to-peer (P2P) describes a relationship between equal partners - the peers. This term is known as a term to describe an alternative concept for computer networks, the so-called Peer-to-peer networks, as opposed to traditional client-server architectures.

This concept is transfered to other systems - like social and economical systems.
