Power is about politics, who gets what and how? It is also about economics. Most power in the world is unequally distributed. Sharing power comes down to have equal distribution of power.

There are two concepts of power

  1. Power to
  2. Power over

Power over refers to having the power over others. Power to refers to the possibility to get things done, to have to power to do things. If someone has power over someone else , you generally have less power to get things done.

Power over refers to the ability to get others to do things they would not ordinarily want to do. This type of power has four faces:

  1. Persuasion
  2. Punishment
  3. Rewards
  4. Force

  1. refusal
  2. voice
  3. escape
  4. creation
